Foundations

I have a strong background volunteering with non-profits, including the establishment of two 501(c)(3) Foundations. The first, created over a decade ago, focuses on organizing the La Jolla Christmas Parade and Holiday Festival, now in its 68th year, supported by community donations and engaging over 1000 participants, drawing 10,000 to 20,000 spectators yearly. The second, LJ STEAM Foundation, serves as a platform for scientific meetings and research projects. It began with 'Cerf's Up in San Diego,' a review of local science initiatives in collaboration with Dr. Vint Cerf. We've also worked on data sonification with Terry Wolkowicz and David MacKenzie of Sound Explorations, integrating music with scientific data for innovative educational tools. Our recent project, a Musical Storybook and educational tools, is available at local bookstores and online.

LA JOLLA CHRISTMAS PARADE & HOLIDAY FESTIVAL FOUNDATION

Founder/President

The parade and holiday festival draws over 25,000 people a year to downtown La Jolla. This year's parade is shaping up to be the best ever with over 100 entries, including beauty queens in vintage vehicles, a dozen bands, 60 equestrians and several thousand kids marching in various groups (Girl Scouts, Brownies, Gymnastics, Boy and Cub Scouts, school marching bands and color guards). The parade starts at Girard Avenue and Kline Street and heads toward the beach. It always ends with a family festival, which this year is on Wall Street.
